Background of the Study

Public infrastructure, such as roads, schools, and healthcare facilities, is critical to the socio-economic development of Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area (LGA) in Kogi State. Budgetary practices significantly influence the financing, execution, and sustainability of public infrastructure projects. Efficient budgetary practices ensure proper allocation of resources, while poor practices often lead to project delays and abandonment. This study examines the impact of budgetary practices on public infrastructure financing in Kabba-Bunu LGA.

Statement of the Problem

Despite substantial budget allocations for infrastructure projects, Kabba-Bunu LGA faces challenges such as delayed project execution, cost overruns, and abandoned projects. These issues are often linked to poor budgetary practices, including inadequate planning, lack of transparency, and corruption. This study investigates the role of budgetary practices in addressing these challenges and improving public infrastructure financing.

Aim and Objectives of the Study

1. To assess the impact of budgetary practices on public infrastructure financing in Kabba-Bunu LGA.

2. To identify challenges in the budgetary process affecting infrastructure development in Kabba-Bunu LGA.

3. To propose strategies for improving budgetary practices to enhance public infrastructure financing.

Research Questions

1. How do budgetary practices impact public infrastructure financing in Kabba-Bunu LGA?

2. What challenges in the budgetary process affect infrastructure development in Kabba-Bunu LGA?

3. What strategies can improve budgetary practices for better infrastructure financing?

Research Hypotheses

1. H₀: Budgetary practices have no significant impact on public infrastructure financing in Kabba-Bunu LGA.

2. H₀: Challenges in the budgetary process do not significantly affect infrastructure development in Kabba-Bunu LGA.

3. H₀: Improved budgetary practices do not significantly enhance public infrastructure financing in Kabba-Bunu LGA.

Significance of the Study

This study will provide policymakers with insights into how budgetary practices affect public infrastructure financing. It will also recommend practical measures to improve resource allocation and project execution in Kabba-Bunu LGA.

Scope and Limitation of the Study

The study will focus on budgetary practices and their impact on public infrastructure financing in Kabba-Bunu LGA. Limitations may include limited access to financial documents and data inaccuracies.
